banana hamburger

Steve and I went to Harrington’s on Front St the other day…it was pretty nice, I was surpised.  The happy hour isn’t bad, $12 pitchers of all their draft beers (we got Newcastle) and pretty good prices for appetizers (we got the fried calamari).  It was pretty chill inside, not too crowded and pretty quiet.  I got the Dieter’s Plate for dinner, which is something I’ve always thought about doing.  You’ll see this sort of thing in lots of old school places, a hamburger patty, tomato slices and cottage cheese.  It was tasty, even better than I had imagined.  I’d like to go back to Harrington’s soon.

Bonanza Restaurant
Ok, I stole that photo above from the internet, but you should go to this place.  You’re going to like it, I promise.  I got a delicious cheeseburger on a delicious sourdough bun that I couldn’t finish and a massive pile of delicious onion rings that I couldn’t finish, all for only 6.95. Craziness.  And they have good beers on tap, and it is so sweet looking inside I could die.

I went to Buca di Beppo for my department’s year end employee appreciation thing.  I was cautiously optimistic; I’d eaten at a buca in Sacramento about 10 years ago and it was pretty lame, but this Buca had been on Check Please! Bay Area.  Why would Check Please! choose to showcase some crappy chain restaurant?  It must be good.  But it wasn’t.  All the food was bland.  I didn’t eat any of this manicotti, but I ate the chicken parm.  The antipasto salad was pretty good, otherwise it was a total bust.

Omelet Express in Santa Rosa is kind of weird.  They have a lot of things with Welsh rarebit sauce, like the omelet that I ordered, which also had spinach and ham and onions.  It tasted kind of like a hot pocket with eggs instead of a pastry crust.  I am very grateful to Omelet Express for being the only restaurant open at 3pm in historic downtown Santa Rosa.
